The White Mask

Through the endless darkness
A pure white mask is shown
A smile painted on its porcelain face
And its eyes wide to the world
This mask is said to protect the wearer
Of the cruel world that surrounds us all
From the whimsical innocence of a child
To the harshest memories of the elderly
This mask is always placed on
During the hardest times of life
Does it truly protect us from the evil
That corrupts the purest soul
Allowing the forever obscurity
To overtake the mind
This white mask is place on
But the question truly is
Is it the mask of sanity
Or one of ignorant bliss
