Innocence
I never thought the day would come
Where I would battle you once again
Will I win the war this time or fall
To my darkest sin.
Your ashen wings wrap around me
As I struggle against your grasp
Your broken halo shines so brightly
My breath but a ragged gasp.
As my feathers wither and die
Falling on the marble floor
My eyes locking upon yours
Searching to implore.
A saddened smile on my lips
As a single tear rolls down
Giving up my innocence
Isn’t as bad as it sounds.
Loving you cost me everything
From my wings to my halo
But I give it up freely for my
New home down below.
